The 2017 Q50 comes in five models: Q50 3.7, Q50 3.7 AWD, Q50 3.7 Sport, Q50 3.7 AWD Sport and Q50 Hybrid AWD. When powered by Infiniti’s 3.7-litre V6, you enjoy an exhilarating 328-horsepower. The V6 is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The Hybrid features a 3.5-litre V6 coupled with a 50 kW electric motor for a combined 360 horsepower. Finally, a new 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine was added to the lineup last year and is listed as one of Wards 10 Best Engines of 2017. Want even more power? The Q50 is available with 400 horsepower, thanks to Infiniti’s aluminum alloy engine, that works to reduce weight and increases overall responsiveness. At 400 horsepower, that makes the Q50 Red Sport 400 the most powerful sedan in its class.
Designed with a Canadian climate in mind, the Q50 is equipped to deliver striking performance while still providing intuitive capability. Infiniti’s All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system sends power where and when you need it, instantly adapting to changing conditions. This means your Q50 is constantly monitoring wheel spin, throttle position and vehicle speed. Then, when it’s necessary, the AWD system automatically diverts up to 50% of the available power to the front wheels. This enhances traction when you find yourself in dangerous conditions. When all-wheel drive is not needed, the system sends 100% of the power to the rear wheels for a more responsive handling.
In addition to striking performance and an intuitive drive-type, the 2017 Q50 includes Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to help correct over-steer or under-steer with direct brake pressure to individual wheels and automatic adjustments to the engine’s power output. Meanwhile, the Q50’s Traction Control System (TCS) works to enhance rear-wheel grip when accelerating by watching wheel spin and automatically reducing engine output and/or braking when needed. Infiniti puts you in total control at all times, so you can enjoy the power behind the drive without hesitation.
2017 Q50 VS the Competition
The Q50 Red Sport 400 features a class-leading 400-horsepower V6 Twin-Turbo engine. Combine this kind of performance with Infiniti’s Drive Mode Selector which offers 336 customizable driver settings and you have the most exhilarating sedan on the road – period.
The Q50 doesn’t just best the competition performance wise, either. While vehicles like the BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS rely on traditional steering components, the Infiniti Q50 operates the world’s first Direct Adaptive Steering system to steer the car. This system uses drive-by-wire technology by digitally sending your steering wheel input directly to the wheels, translating into a more exhilarating, and ultimately more connected, drive.
The Q50 also offers drivers more available standard safety features than any other vehicle in the luxury sedan segment. This includes Lane Departure Prevention, Blind Spot Prevention and Around View Monitor, and many more. Infiniti understands it’s about feeling secure in your vehicle; especially in one as powerful as the Q50.
